Grief after black man dies after being detained by UK police

There has been conflicting information coming out following the death of Edir Frederico Da Costa, better known as Edson, who died on Wednesday, six days after being arrested by the Metropolitan police.

Edson, a 25-year-old father, was arrested in Beckton, east London while in a car with two other people. Police are believed to have used CS spray and force during the…

Jeremy Corbyn is the indisputable king of Glastonbury

If you didn’t know already, Jeremy Corbyn is secretly the most-anticipated headline act at Glastonbury this year.

People in the queue were chanting his name when they got bored, a silent disco crowd sang “Oh Jeremy Corbyn” along to the White Stripes “Seven Nation Army” on Thursday, and as Radiohead finished their set last night, the crowd roared for Jezza once again.

Is Brooklyn Beckham’s photography actually terrible?

romeo beckham

Brooklyn Beckham’s debut photography book, what i see, has been picking up a lot of flack on social media over the past few days, and you can literally see why.

The book, which is due to be released next week, has come under fire from critics for its out of focus and poorly lit shots, nevermind some dodgy captions.

In one spread a blurred black and white shot of a dining table is captioned “i like this picture – it’s out of focus but you can tell there’s a lot going…

friday favorites: asos sale

New York weather has been absolutely CRAZY the past few weeks (and by past few weeks I really mean always). One day the temps will barely reach 60 degrees, and others it will be 95 and thunder storming. With this unpredictability constantly looming over our heads, I’ve been feeling like nothing in my closet is cutting it. I packed away my sweaters for summer only to have to dig some out for the chillier days, and I’ve actually had to run out and buy light, airy tops to change into midday on a few select sweltering afternoons. So, in the spirit of impulse shopping, I’m bringing you my favorites from possibly one of the best impulse shopping destinations: Asos.

Personally, I consistently prefer Asos over other stores like Zara and H&M, and as an online shopping addict, I love the accessibility and positively overwhelming options (not to mention free shipping!). If you’re looking for any kind of trend, whether it’s off the shoulder, ruffled, floral, midi — or you’re just searching for some good,  quality basics (I love their bounty of cotton and linen items for summer), it’s a great place to get everything in one spot. So, check out my favorites currently part of Asos’ awesome treat-yo-self up to 50% off sale below. Until next Friday!

Women’s History Museum show mixes performance, fashion & art

women's history museum 004 collection new york show

I am at the latest presentation put on by Women’s History Museum, a New York-based fashion label headed by Amanda McGowan and Rivkah Barringer. In just four shows it has quickly surfaced as a post-fashion icon, eschewing utility and permanence in favour of clothes that are sculptural, fragmented and gender non-specific.

The room is small and crowded, flooded with young bodies outlined and illuminated by strong, fluorescent lights. In the middle…

What does it mean to be a dragon lady?

Dragon Lady

Last night, fashion designer Gogo Graham presented a one-night only sculpture exhibition. Held at Romeo Gallery, artist Aurel Schmidt’s space on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, Graham’s show – titled “Dragon Lady” –was a take on harmful stereotypes, featuring works that push back against the cliché. “‘Dragon lady’ is a western term that’s used to describe a domineering East Asian woman who embodies this white vision of Asian feminine mystery and exoticism, so I…
